Christmas time is here again, and I can’t help but admire the intricate way some folks trim their trees. I myself have a basic Charlie Brown tree with antiques and memories and a Christmas cactus that I can always depend on to bloom and cheer me up. I did, however, have a fabulous time decorating a St. Augustine Victorian house inside A Mother for Christmas, though, so if you like old-fashioned romantic Christmas stories, visit your favorite retailer and grab my new eBook release! After you grab your copy, scroll down to see my cactus!

Book Talk ~ Pocketful of Bones
Pocketful of Bones
Brilliant. Inventive. Dark.
Telling you up front I don’t often talk out loud about books I read by my colleagues. Yet once in a while along comes a book that knocks my socks off. Some indie-authored books I read show raw talent that need polish, although most are well-written and
entertaining–which is what a fiction book should be. I’m a writer. I’m a published author. My stories are not going to set the world on fire or earn a million dollars. I don’t expect them to do so. But I know a story teller when I come across one. C.S. Forester is a story teller. His 126 page novel, The African Queen, that I first bought for 35c was made into an unforgettable movie. Canadian author Farley Mowat is a story teller. Even his non-fiction enthrall because they are so honest.

Yes you can! PROMOTE a book without a single review
In spite of what you hear and read on author blogs, Linkedin, on Facebook pages, author forums, and chat rooms, you darn sure can promote your book without a review. How such toxic information managed to find such a poisonous and penetrating life in our indie author universe is beyond me. I am weary of listening to it and I’d like to put it to bed. Here is the single complaint that plagues me the most:

Striking a Balance
2014 has been a rip of a year in our indie universe. New promotion sites went online, Amazon tossed Kindle Unlimited into the mix in July and the frenzy of Christmas books and collections literally swept the boards clean, and indie authors have been trying to figure out the market ever since. Now the question is: What can you do in 2015 to get a slice of the indie pie and put your books in front of readers?
