October Book Talk: No Tricks, Just eBook Treats!

Written By: Jackie Weger - Oct• 23•19

Trick or Treat? Pumpkin time is here again and I can’t help but admire the intricate carvings some people manage to do on pumpkins. I myself have two left hands for pumpkin carving. I leave Halloween decor to my garden spiders. But I write and I know a good book.  So, no tricks. Just book treats for everyone. Look at all of these wonderful books that are discounted or FREE for a few more days.

First up is Tender Enemies by S.R.Mallery, a WW2 espionage page turner that brings history to life. Most books about Nazis take place in Europe. But not Tender Enemies. It’s 1941 New York City and Nazis are alive and well. Problem is, when Lily sets up a spy “Honey Trap” for Joe Schmidt, a man who supposedly is a threat to Democracy, she faces truly great danger––of falling in love with him. If you like Ellie Wiesel, Adiva Geffen, Danielle Steele, this one is for you. 99c on Amazon.

Next, a pack of mysteries,  Zachary Goldman Mysteries 1-4 by P.D. Workman. Shattered by the tragedies of his own life, Zachary Goldman will somehow still manage to pick himself up and dig just a little bit deeper to find the vital clues. Maybe being broken makes it easier for others to trust him. Walk with Zachary as he solves four cases that will stretch his abilities to the limit. PD Workman has created a PI story with a great mystery and a truly shocking twist at the end. 99c on Amazon for you.

Here is a must read. Love Like Crazy by Carmen DeSousa, a coming-of-age romance. College and career are hard enough without bringing love into the mix. MJ Kane entertains with a highly emotional, contemporary, sensitive interracial Romance: A Heart Not Easily Broken. Ebony wanted a man who would challenge her mind and body. Sweet Romance in Chicago. And a big American – Italian family, Paris, and airplanes. Find these all in Love on Board by P.C.Zick. Rock, an experienced pilot, worries he’ll never find love. They share a love of old movies and flying, but Sabrina must learn to trust Rock, who struggles not to take care of Sabrina and all her needs. Turns out she can take care of herself. 99c on Amazon.

Familly could be a theme this month. For a contemporary romance with strong family themes, here is  A Perfect Storm by Mimi Barbour. An accident puts single mother Jenni’s son in a wheelchair. The rebellious girl who instigates the incident shows anger rather than remorse. When it becomes imperative the two kids be home-schooled, her handsome bachelor father begs Jenni to let him teach both kids & maybe earn his daughter’s love. 99c. Christmas Romance.

Here’s a MUST READ by Donna Fasano: An Honorable Man. Our third family themed suggestion this October. Native American Mat Makwa takes his daughter home to the reservation where he grew up, hoping life will be calmer and safer there. But when he meets school teacher Julie Dacey, he knows his heart is in danger. Sweet contemporary romance in a small town. FREE on Amazon.

For some high-octane suspense and red-hot romance, here is Wild On You by Tina Wainscott. One untamable SEAL meets a woman who handles the wildest sort of animals—until she herself becomes the hunted. These fallen SEALs are about to take advantage of their ruined reputations and start turning wrongs to rights—no matter the cost. Kindle for 99c.

Next, lighten up with some funnylicious chick lit, Suddenly Susan by Virginia Gray. When her bright future slips away, Susan Wade faces a choice that will change everything. She juggles job interviews and her geeky best friend’s romantic advances in a delightful comedy about life, love, and way too much caffeine. 99c on Amazon.

Young Adult Suspense 100 Proof Stud by AJ Lape is an absolutely fun read for everyone. Murder isn’t Darcy’s only problem. All of a sudden, it’s raining men, and her personal life turns her inside out. Before she can sort out her feelings, she chases a spray-painting vandal and stumbles upon a case of identity theft. Second chance contemporary romance by Jacquie Biggar, My Girl is a story about decisions, right and wrong. Aaron Shaughnessy faces a ghost from his past when ex-girlfriend Trish Sylvester books a holiday on his family’s guest ranch.
