Well Phooey! February 2019 Sneaked in While I was Looking the Other Way.

This stunning banner was created by my good colleague and writer, Jacquie Biggar. That girl has a world of talent.

February 2019 Sneaked in While I was Looking the Other Way.

Boo-ya. I’m still trying to work out what happened between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2018. I know I missed Christmas and New Year’s because I was sicker than a salted slug, melting all over the place. January wasn’t much better. Think: Hospital, nurses, a raft of doctors and a physical therapist. Then there’s the storm troopers in my family and my darling Keeper who insist I follow all instructions. Huh? Those things are piled up thicker than any book I’ve ever written. I put ’em in my TBR pile. Bottom of it.

Falling Leaves Giveaway~ Useful things plus an array of Great Books

Hello all of you awesome people and welcome new subscribers to Accent on Romance.

Before we get to the wonderful array of books and our special Falling Leaves Giveaway, which by my lights are super special, I want to introduce you to Morris, the Feral Cat.  He showed up on our back deck a few weeks ago, skinny and perhaps elderly, and hasn’t left. Won’t. He’s the spiritual image of another Feral, Big Red, who was with us for five years.  Big Red refused to come in the house during rain, sleet, freeze or flood.  He spent his old age lounging on a step railing. We lost him to a coyote.  Morris has his sweet personality, adores a belly scratch, and kindly grooms our fifteen-year-old house cat, Allie Mae. Happy Days on our back deck.

BOOK TALK ~ Chicklit at it’s best…

HERE’S A WOMAN AFTER MY OWN HEART

How many times inside your marriage did you want to do this? Grab all of the money out of your joint account, do a number on the jerk’s truck and hit the road for a new life…

Jana Embers does just that. She adopts a cat for companionship, eschews men, chooses a perfectly sized and shaped device and writes about the perfect hero.  Determined to share her philosophy, she pens You Don’t Need a Man, encouraging women everywhere to go out and experience life instead of waiting for a man to complete them. She makes it work.

The Real Skinny on Artificial Intelligence

New Contraptions. Old Brain.

No, I wasn’t born under a rock, but I was born during the Depression which means I am not a Millennial. My kids aren’t even Millennials. What I am is O.L.D. and I’m trying to grasp artificial intelligence. An online dictionary says AI is a noun: the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. Also, AI can drive cars–which I’m not allowed to do, so that piqued my interest.

Why Don’t Men Listen? And Don’t Talk to me About Mars.

YES, I’ve read Men are from Mars, Women from Venus

But I don’t live with a Martian, although My Keeper acts like an alien too often.  Aliens don’t have ears, do they? You know what I’m talking about. Try explaining something to a man and his expression goes flat~unless he smirks with derision as in ‘I already know that’.  This happened: I’ve been ill for a while so I’m not allowed to drive. I asked my Keeper to take me to the UPS Store. He looked it up on Google so tells me he know right where to go. He drives through two shopping centers. We end up at Payless Shoes. No problem, he needs a new pair of sandals. I pull out my lovely new iPhone and ask Siri, ‘how far am I from the nearest UPS Store. Two shopping centers over right behind my bank. Yep. My Keeper wasn’t wrong. Blame Google maps. Bite my tongue!
